TLDR : Answer Summary
The Google Chromecast Ultra works well in Thailand, with users reporting no issues, especially in Chiang Mai. Some users have had trouble with the Firestick due to geofencing, indicating that a VPN is recommended for better access. While the Chromecast functions properly, some users prefer the Firestick for its easier setup with VPN applications. Others have also noted that devices like the Gen 5 Apple TV work well with VPNs.

fire stick is better, as Chromecast doesn't like adding additional WiFi settings, also fire stick you add a VPN app easily to it

Any idea how to add a VPN to it? I tried to do it when it wasn't working in Thailand and never could figure it out. Thanks.

Couldn't get my firestick to work because it is geofenced. Should have had a VPN. Good luck with it.
