Has anyone successfully changed the way they qualify for a retirement extension, from the money in the bank to monthly income, at the Jomtien office? And before anyone asks, yes I have maintained the proper amount in the bank for a year, as well as transferred in the 65,000 each month for a year.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion focuses on whether individuals have successfully switched their qualification for a retirement visa extension from maintaining a bank balance to proving monthly income at the Jomtien immigration office. Several commenters shared their experiences, indicating that changing from the 800,000 baht requirement to a monthly income of 65,000 baht is possible with the correct documentation and maintaining the monthly requirement for at least 12 months. There are also insights into the processing efficiency of different immigration offices and the potential challenges when doing it personally versus through an agent.

Make sure you have 12 months of historic payments of 65k at the point of applying for extension, not visa renewal date.

If you do it through an agent it's not a problem, to do it by yourself? I have no idea, I did it and apart from having to sign at least 25 bits of paper there was no problem.

It depends which agent at which immigration office, there's no conformity here. I did it this year with my wife as well, in other words she is included with our translated and certified marriage certificate.

Do you need to have

0 baht in a thai bank as well as a monthly income for retirement visa

Monthly income would be

you have to have 800k in the bank for the first year. If you want to change to monthly income qualification, you have to make the transfers each month for a year.

@Terry *******
Only 800k for the first 3 months of the first extension then a minimum of 400k for the rest of the year

I changed from 800K to 65K per month in chaiyaphum. No problem with correct documentation and funds .

I'm thinking about doing this in 11 months.

I'm in Khon Kaen. The immigration office up here are always helpful.

Good luck.

I would imagine that the Jomtien office is crazy busy.
