Can I renew my Non-O retirement visa after missing 4 months of 65K deposits if I have 800K baht in my bank account?

Change from 65K every month to 800K: If someone on a Non-O retirement visa has been doing the 65K deposit and missed 4 months of deposits, then deposits enough to bring the balance up to 800K baht, can they re-new visa (extend for another year) as usual, even though there's a gap of no 65K deposits for a few months? Or will they have to leave the country and come back in and start the process all over again?
Summary so far
The post discusses a situation where an individual on a Non-O retirement visa has discontinued their monthly 65K baht deposits for 4 months but intends to have a balance of 800K baht in their bank account to apply for a visa renewal. There are mixed opinions in the comments about whether or not it is possible to renew without continuing the monthly deposits, highlighting that it is dependent on specific immigration office policies. Some commenters suggest that having the 800K baht for at least 2 months before applying may suffice, while others advise that immigration offices can be strict about this switch and may require the previous monthly deposits. It's emphasized that checking with the local immigration office is crucial.

You don't have to leave the country and just have 800k 2months before you are going to make extension or visa expire

That would be nice, but I need to find out if they will be OK 4 months of missing 65K deposits and a balance below 400K. I'll soon find out.

post back if you remember to and let us know what your office said.

As I pointed out, you needed the 12 months of transfers to get the extension you're currently on now, but there is no obligation to continue the transfers IF you're switching to banked money method.. <- although let's see what your office says about it :)

you need to understand that going from monthly income by transfer to bank money method is not as easy as just having the 800k in your bank account two months before you apply for the next extension.

Some immigration offices are really hard about switching methods of proof of funds

No 4 months I doubt they’ll go for it either start over getting a non-o out of the country then extend on the 800k it if your lucky they might do the non-o in country because of your case

Can’t you get a non O in the country anymore?

@Tim ******
not easy but it’s been done if you already have a Thai bank account with 800k in it or an financial certificate from your embassy but each office is different

I did it before with letter from Canadian embassy. Now they stopped issuing letter so last year I wasn’t able to get extension. I started putting 65k in hoping I could get new 90 day visa when I come back in October.

And thanks for the response.

Probably time for a trip out of Thailand, unless you are lucky, as Tod said. 😎

That is gonna be between you and your immigration office and I'd sure go talk to them well before you're going to apply for the upcoming extension.

I have seen some offices say no problem stopping the monthly transfers just show the 800K seasoned in a thai bank account in your name 2 months before you apply <- that's because you show the previous 12 months of transfers to get an extension ISSUED and after that (at least in my opinion) there is no obligation to continue to transfer in the funds, especially if you're switching to banked money method (then again I'm not handing out extensions either :o :/ )

BUT

I've seen them say you need to continue the 65k a month transfers even if you're switching to the 800K banked money method for the next extension and have seen people denied their extension because they stopped the transfers when they put the 800K in to start the 2 month seasoning period.

Again that is immigration office specific and it's totally going to be up to how your office interprets the rule. There is nothing spelled out that says it has to be one way or the other <- giving the officer a great deal of latitude in deciding how they want it to be :/

You may indeed have to get off this current extension, either get a new Non-O at a thai consulate in a nearby country or come back in free stamp and apply for the Non-O at your immigration office.

Sorry wish I had more concrete info about it but . .. ..

Good to hear, because I was also just thinking about switching ,the authentication of the minimum income at the embassy has become too complicated

well using an affidavit of income notary letter from your embassy isn't the same as people whose embassy don't issue that letter and have had to transfer in 65k baht a month, each month every month for the previous 12 months to get an extension.

I think going from the embassy letter to banked money would be a lot more straightforward, but again I don't issue extensions so check with your immigration office well before you're thinking to switch proof of funds methods
