Hi guys, looking for some advice. I applied for a DTV (Soft Power – cooking class) visa through the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur (I’m Malaysian and was back for other errands). The embassy got back this morning and approved all my documents except the acceptance letter from my cooking school, stating that it must be an *official acceptance letter issued by the Thai government*.
I contacted my cooking school, but they said they are a private institution (so are other cooking schools?) and can only provide standard documents (payment receipt, enrollment confirmation, school profile, registration certificate, owner’s ID, etc.). At this point, they’ve already enrolled several DTV students, presumably approved through other embassies. This requirement didn’t seem to exist before, so I’m wondering if it’s a new or embassy-specific rule.
What would you suggest I do in this case? I’d prefer not to reapply through another embassy if this is now a general requirement, especially given the high visa fee. Has anyone faced a similar situation?
Any idea if the yearly lease of my condo would work as a substitute for such a document.
Bank transfer proof will only show proof of transfer of funds. Not sure if owner or agents would supply tax number on a receipt. Has anyone had any experience of supplying such a document
Has anyone recently traveled with an old and new passport in hand to Kualar Lumpur?
My husband had to recently get a new Australian passport as his old one had a bad stamp from some dodgy school that cropped up during the Covid years.
On the 31st of March [Friday just gone] my husband left Thailand on an old passport that expires today [April 2nd] and he was hoping that the Thai Embassy in Kl would put the tourist visa stamp into his new passport [especially considering that the old one is now non-usable as of today].
So, my husband left Thailand on the old passport and then entered Malaysia on the old passport and is now concerned that at the Thai Embassy in Kl that they will think it strange that he has a brand-new passport when his old passport still had two years validity on it and a few spare pages left.
Has anyone recently been through this experience at the KL Thai embassy?
I have a friend stuck in Malaysia. He tried to renter through Don Muang airport on a visa exemption while a new place processed the business visa paperwork for him. Immigration at DM sent him back to Malaysia. He tried to renter again via the land border but was denied entry there as well. Obviously at this point he needs a real visa from a Thai embassy. Is it possible to get a tourist visa from the embassy in KL or would he be better off going to Savannakhet?
