What is the timeline and experience for obtaining a DTV visa through the Abuja embassy for Cameroonian applicants?

Hi everyone!

I wanted to share my DTV approval experience, particularly for Africans applying via the Abuja embassy as experiences from there are few and far between.

I'm a Cameroonian passport holder and my timeline is as follows:

* Application submitted: 8 August 2026

* Request for further docs: 7 October (I kinda got annoyed and sent a message on whatsapp saying if they weren't processing visas they should say so because I had spent weeks texting them for an update with no reply)

* Visa approved: 15 October 2026 (today!)

* Total processing time: 68 days

I provided my travel history, police certificate, remote work contract, payslips, a letter of explanation, a hotel reservation for 2 weeks (explained I would use the time to find long term housing) and my bank statement. Thankfully, they did not request an interview, maybe because I have been to Thailand before.

Hopefully this helps someone who is still waiting, I know how frustrating the uncertainty can be, especially when there are so few experiences from applicants in our region.

The person on the other end of the whatsapp line also told me they process visas according to travel dates but somehow mine was overlooked because I put my travel date in September.
