Hello everyone,

I’m planning a move to Chiang Mai and putting together a list of useful apps for daily life there. This is what I’ve found so far. Happy to hear any additions, corrections, or better alternatives:

🚕 Transport & Mobility: Grab (rides, food, payments), Bolt (cheap rides), inDrive (fare negotiation), Maxim (budget taxi), ViaBus (bus tracking), AnyWheel (bike sharing), Skoot (e-scooter rental)

🍜 Food & Groceries: LINE MAN (food delivery), ShopeeFood (restaurant delivery), Makro PRO (bulk groceries), TukApp (local delivery), eatigo (restaurant discounts), 7-Eleven (convenience orders), Sushiro (queue booking sushi)

🏠 Lifestyle & Home: BeNeat (home cleaning), GoWabi (beauty bookings), Lazada (online shopping), Shopee (marketplace), RentHub (apartment search), MonthlyChiangmai (monthly rentals)

🏥 Health & Safety: AirVisual (air quality), Police i lert u (emergency alerts)

🏛️ Government & Admin: DLT Smart Queue (transport office booking), DLT QR Licence (digital driver license), THIM (visa services), Thailand Tourist Police (tourist assistance)

💸 Money & Payments: TrueMoney Wallet (payments, transfers), Deep Pocket (expense tracking)

💬 Messaging: LINE (main local chat), WhatsApp (global messaging), Telegram (groups, channels), Facebook Messenger (social chat)

🛍️ Offline Shopping: Power Buy (electronics), Banana IT (gadgets), Thai Watsadu (home improvement), HomePro (home goods), Watsons (health & beauty), Makro PRO (bulk shopping), SHEIN (fashion)

✈️ Travel & Planning: D-Ticket (train tickets), Klook (activities), Trip.com (flights & hotels), 12Go (transport tickets), Booking.com (accommodation), Traveloka (travel deals)
Answer summary
A user is compiling a list of useful apps for expats living in Chiang Mai, covering various categories such as transport (Grab, Bolt), food delivery (LINE MAN, ShopeeFood), lifestyle (Lazada, RentHub), health (AirVisual), government services (DLT Smart Queue, THIM), payments (TrueMoney Wallet), messaging (LINE, WhatsApp), shopping (Power Buy), and travel planning (D-Ticket, Booking.com). Community members provide feedback, questioning the necessity and availability of some apps and suggesting alternatives.

This is definitely overkill. If I had a half of these apps on my phone I'd be running out of space. I know most of these and I choose 1 or 2 from each category and that will be plenty sufficient.

Many of these are not going to be of any use to you in Chiang Mai. ViaBus for example. I don't know if Eatigo is in Chiang Mai or not, and I'm trying to remember if I had to download Sushiro from the Thai app store or if it was on the international one.

Michael Sternberg never met anyone using any of those. Don't think they serve much purpose here. Basically you need the top 2 or 3 in every category and you're good.
