Lets say if your life is not too busy and bound by work in central Bangkok (which inherently has poor air quality and often traffic jams during rush hour), then which areas in Bangkok do you want to live and enjoy a comfortable environment, few people and uninterrupted views of buildings?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Residents discuss their experiences living in various areas of Bangkok, highlighting quieter neighborhoods like Thonglo and Ari that offer good views and a comfortable living environment. Comments suggest exploring areas further from the city center, such as Bang Wa and Pinklao, which may have improved since past experiences. Some users emphasize the importance of air quality, recommending places like Sriracha for a more scenic, ocean-view lifestyle. Overall, suggestions prioritize locations with easy access to transportation while avoiding the worst traffic.

I lived in Lumpini On Nut for many years. Amazing views of the city but pretty bad traffic at the On Nut Road / Sukhumvit Road junction

I stayed in an apartment near On Nut BTS last year, one of 3 areas of Bangkok I experienced over a month. I think it's a good area, fairly central or at least well positioned in terms of public transport, well serviced by department stores, markets and restaurants. I lived in Bangkok for 6 years back in the 90s before the sky and sub rail and drove a car. Public transport has improved out of sight since then.

I was there for 16 years until Covid arrived and loved the area. Drove a car to work every day in Srinakarin. Retired now but come back to the area every year for a few months. It's still home to me. 😅😅

Does it need to be in Bangkok. Personally i am exploring a bit out, on the beach as air quality is very important to me … Sriracha seems to have some lovely condos with view of the ocean …

Bangkok starts becoming very trampy within a few miles from downtown, but the key point if you're not bound by work commitments is that you can time your journeys to avoid the worst of the traffic - just choose somewhere with easy access into / out of the expressway system, which is an amazingly fast way to get around the city, except during rush hours.

Bang Wa / Pinklao were nice when I was living there 5 years ago. It's on the other side of the river, at that time there was only one train going there so I don't know what it's like now.

I live in Thonglo and I don't find it too busy because there's no big shopping malls here. Plenty of quiet sois off the main roads. Traffic yes, but I don't drive so it doesn't bother me. My condo is on Sukhumvit but at the back of the building so I don't hear it. Views are awesome. I also like Ari a bit further out. Very chilled on weekends.
