Going to go to the US for medical care. Leave next month. Is it true that pre-departure Covid testing is available at the airport? Is it the 15 minute test or the 3 hour test?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, pre-departure Covid testing is available at both Bangkok airports. For entry into the US, an ATK (lateral flow) test is sufficient, while the airline may require a PCR test. The testing facilities at the airports typically provide results within one hour.
As long as the BKK-ICN-SFO route is one ticketed itinerary and you are only transiting Inchon to SFO, you need to only have a PCR or ATK test no sooner than one day prior to your departure flight from BKK. The airlines will only check to make sure you have the testing paperwork per USA requirements.
For entry into USA, you can use either the PCR or rapid antigen test. The rapid antigen cannot be a self test. The airlines will want paperwork from a hospital, clinic or medical office. They will also want to see the vaccination certificate. Depending on the airline(s) you fly to USA, you will show the paperwork in BKK and probably in Incheon.
Wait. I thought this pre-departure test was for the Thai government. Is that incorrect? Do I need to concern myself with the requirements of the US government as well? How about the layover in Korea?
there is no pre departure test for the Thai government. The tests are for what your destination country, layover country and airlines may require. Sorry I have no idea what Korea may require.
