How long does it take to get a DTV e-visa, and can my teenager join on a tourist visa?
How long does it usually take to get a dtv e-visa? And I have a teenager also. He won’t be working of course, can he tag along on a regular tourist visa? We are not staying more than 60 days. I am planning a workation during our next visit, and want to do things by the book.
Answer summary
The processing time for a DTV e-visa varies by embassy or consulate, typically ranging from 3-15 days. As for your teenager, he can accompany you on a regular tourist visa or may be eligible for visa exemption depending on his nationality, allowing both of you to stay in Thailand for up to 60 days.

How long will depend entirely on the embassy or consulate you are applying at. Some turn around in 3-5 days. Some 10-15. Others more.
Depends on your son’s nationality as to whether he needs a tourist visa or can enter visa exempt. If the latter then there is no reason for the former. Both give 60 days on entry.
