Are there any language schools anywhere processing education visas for Cambodian nationals? I have gotten rejections everywhere for my Cambodian GF. I understand that there is a low intensity border conflict going on but Cambodians are not banned from entering Thailand. I need to find a long term option for my GF to stay in Thailand.

I keep reading mixed reports about Cambodians entering Thailand. Everything ranging from "Me and my GF flew to Bangkok last week" to what she experienced last week which was being turned around at the airport. They did not give any deportation stamps or any type markings on her passport. They stated had we traveled together and if she had a passport stamp or two, it would of helped a lot more.

That being said, I think I set her up for failure by having her fly alone (Young unaccompanied woman w/ no passport stamps from country w/ high risk of overstay/trafficking raises flags) and having an onward flight +45 days after arrival. Plus she forgot to print out the sponsorship letter. They were pretty courteous about turning her around, they said she needed to enter on a 'student visa' which is total bullshit as there is in fact, no options for student visas for Cambodians in Phuket or at least no new options.

So the new plan is to stay in Manila for about 10 days after Cambodia and re-enter via DMK. She'll have a passport stamp which shows compliance with immigration rules and so on and paints us as a 'couple traveling'. At a bare min, I need us both to get into Thailand and prepare to move as there may no easy path for her to get a 6-12 month visa in Thailand.
Summary so far
The post discusses the difficulties faced by a Cambodian national trying to obtain an education visa for Thailand. The author describes their girlfriend's recent experience of being turned away at the airport and highlights the mixed reports about Cambodians entering Thailand. They seek a long-term visa option and mention the lack of available language schools processing education visas for Cambodians, particularly in Phuket. The comments provide various opinions on the best course of action, suggesting alternatives like obtaining a tourist visa and highlighting the complexities of the current immigration climate.

I think sending her alone was probably a big mistake. If you want to paint yourself as “ a couple traveling” then I would make sure that I was standing right there next to her with proof of accommodations booked and proof of you two on the same “vessel” out together whether it’s bus or plane. And also proof of pictures on your phone that you’re a couple if they were to pull you out of line for questioning.

I have never tried entering through DMK but many comments on FB say they are one of the strictest entry points. So make sure you have every thing lined up once you try again. Good luck 👍.

There are some agencies that offer education visas for Cambodian nationals in Pattaya.

Your partner is better off getting a tourist visa from the Thai embassy in Cambodia or find a language school that will provide her documents to apply for an ED visa in Cambodia so she can enter on an Ed visa. And then fly into Thailand. Don't use DMK airport. Use suvarnabhumi airport and fast track service for her.

Surely its better to apply for a tourist visa which gives her 2 months plus 1 month extension option vs a 14 day visa free entry that, i am told, can only be extended for 7 more days.

I really don't get the Education visa rabbit hole you are trying to go down.

Alan Francis Visa on Arrival gets a 15 day entry stamp and no extension. The 7 day stamp is an extension denied - 7 days to leave Thailand stamp and in that 7 days she cannot convert to any other visa, she has 7 days to leave.

OP
Graham Seal No she gets 60 days if she arrives by air, but it's at the discretion of a immigration officer on how many days she gets. The whole discussion about the education visa would be a long-term alternative after we go through the normal 90 days, you need to sort of look at her situation as comparable to a Westerner at least on paper where they get 60 + 30 extension. But in practice, now with the war going on or if you want to call it a war, it's more like a border skirmish... Immigration authorities are exercising far more discretion

Graham Seal oh ok....sorry. Thanks .... I thought it was an actual extension .... 🙄

Go and Live in Cambodia, seems the sensible option instead of trying to bend the rules of a country you're a guest in. If you're not careful it'll be you getting turned around next time.

Benjamin Stuart Reed by trying to sneak her on an ED visa she won't study on. Just go and live in Cambodia.

David Kemp she can learn Thai. I hope she learns Thai. Either way they're not doing education visas for cambodians.

May be I misunderstood something. You stated that you are looking for a language school processing visa application and there are no options for student visa for cambodian nationals in Phuket. If she told the Immigration office that she will be à student, are you surprised the deny her entry? Like Larry Ryan said, the Education visa has been à used by tourist. Again maybe there is something I didn't understand but it doesn't add up

No I'm not saying she entered with the intention to be a student. I'm saying that they stated she should return with a student visa, yet there is no options to get a student visa for cambodians. We entered on the typical Visa exempt regime in which both Americans and cambodians have the same situation when flying by air

It's going to be extremely difficult for her to legally stay in Thailand. Best for you to move and live in Cambodia.

The whole Education Visa process is under review as it's been abused by tourists (mostly Russian) as a cover to work illegally. Don't be surprised if the whole Immigration/Visa system is overhauled by the incoming administration as Anutin hates farangs.

Remember it is up to the Immigration Officer she is standing in front of. And what I have seen in a lot of post by both Thai and Cambodian's is a lot of hatred. Good luck to the both of you.
