TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around whether Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) payments can be directly deposited into a bank account in Thailand. Several commenters suggest that direct deposit may not be possible when living abroad, while others mention that it might be feasible if managed through the Social Security office in the Philippines. There is also advice regarding currency exchange rates and experiences related to transferring funds internationally.

That is my direct understanding from SSA too. They make it clear that Social Security Disability Insurance & Social Security Supplemental recipients MUST LIVE STATESIDE while receiving these benefits. Only regular Social Security recipients can live any place in the world that they want while receiving social security

That’s good news John because those monsters straight told me in a very clear and nasty tone that if I moved outside the country I’d lose it! I haven’t looked back sense. SSA’s starting to sound a lot like Thai Immigration: each office makes its own rules despite what’s on the books 📚 😂 ... 🤷🏾‍♂️ Glad you got to keep yours though 👍

I didn’t pass along the same bad info. I passed along a direct quote from my SSA person at that time. It’s a statement of fact but in any event, I’m glad it worked out for you. It’s also why my post said following and learning 😉 cheers 🍻
