Is it acceptable to state my intention to stay longer with family when applying for a tourist visa extension in Thailand?

I visited Thailand every 6 months for 1 month stay in last 18 years. Now I am first time applying for the 60 day tourist visa and will try to get extension to stay with my family. I am going to stay in my girlfriend house. My question is, if questioned on immigration on arrival or while applying for extension it is ok to say that I want to stay longer with my family? Or it is better just claim tourist purposes. Thanks
