Hi, is there any benefit to applying for a Long stay O-A visa in advance to living in Thailand ?
I will apply from UK online.
I’m hoping to retire next year and Live in condo.
Just thinking ahead with the health insurance requirement coming into play.
I visit on holiday 2-3 times annually for up to 3 weeks per visit. I’m over 50 and have the finance required.
Can you use the O-A visa and get it re-stamped on each visit just for holiday ?
Thanks in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
Applying for a Long Stay O-A visa prior to retiring in Thailand has several benefits. It allows for multiple entries into the country, where each entry grants a one-year stay. This visa option does not require permanent residence, giving flexibility to retirees who wish to spend part of the year in Thailand while maintaining ties elsewhere. Additionally, with health insurance requirements anticipated to take effect, getting the visa in advance could simplify planning for health care provisions.

Mark Poole ....you have good advice from Marty Pollard and others....
"Yes. There is no requirement that you live here. It is a multiple entry visa. You will be stamped in for 1 year each time you enter. Enter near the end of your first year and you will get another year."
Good Luck...
Also...I suggest you use the Search box at top of forum...enter "O-A visa". Many shared experiences from others seeking the O-A will appear.
There is still no official info regarding health insurance so no one knows when or if that will happen. But I do think ppl should have an insurance, for me its common sence.

I did this when I first came over. I highly recommend this type Visa! But I stayed here once I arrived. Not sure if it works if you not staying here permanently, although my first year with this Visa was multiple entry.
