Does Thailand tax VA Disability?
Answer summary
VA Disability payments are not taxable in Thailand as they are treated as a government pension and do not count as assessable income. This means individuals receiving VA Disability benefits will not face taxation on these funds in Thailand. However, recipients may still be subject to federal and state taxes in their home country, particularly in the U.S. It's important to consider the details of the tax treaties between Thailand and the recipient’s home country, as these can affect tax obligations.

Why would they. It's not income there for not taxed in America and sure the hell not in Thailand.. And I sure wouldn't have it deposited into a Thai Bank either. I use my navy federal ATM card here just fine.

Government retirement, pentions, or disability can ONLY be taxed United States. This is directly from United States / Thailand Tax Treaty. You still may be required to file a tax return in Thailand to show where the money came from.

VA disability isn't taxed in any state in America. It's not income Therefore no tax

Matthew Plymale I was referring to the wording in the Thailand United States Tax Treaty as it applies to any type of US government payment.

if the income Thailand is non-assessable (VA disability) there is no tax filing requirement. The filing obligation depends on whether you have other assessable income and the applicable filing threshold, not simply whether foreign money entered Thailand.
