TLDR : Answer Summary
Several recommendations for self-defense schools in Bangkok and Pattaya were discussed, highlighting the importance of enrolling in a Muay Thai school for DTV qualification. Notable mentions include Muay Chaiya, known for its effective self-defense techniques, and Tiger Eye Martial Arts in Bangkok. While specific schools in Pattaya were not identified, various participants contributed insights, indicating the cultural relevance of Muay Thai in relation to Thai soft power.

First have all your teeth knocked out, in a good self-defense school then you can have all the implants placed...enough time with your DTV

If you are interested in classic Muay sports, the father sports of Muay Thai, then I suggest Muay Chaiya in Bangkok for example Kru Praeng at

Unfortunately that is in the far outskirts of Bangkok, with not even MRT/BTS close to it.

However there are two schools along the Air port link.

Put "muay chaiya bangkok" into google maps ...

About Pattaya, I have no idea. Muay Chaiya, or Muay Thai Chaiya is a very self defense focused Muay Boran style. Boran meaning "ancient". Muay Boran is the umbrella term for the classic Thai fighting styles from which Muay Thai was derived.

Muay Chaiya is famous for its throwing techniques and joint locks, it is basically the BJJ/Aikido of Muay Thai.

About Pattaya: I have no clue.

"Self defense" is not a Thai soft power. If you want to qualify for a DTV, you need to sign up for a Muay Thai school, which is specifically a Thai type of fighting, hence it qualifies under Soft Power as a cultural exchange.
