Any disabled US military veterans on here that have experience seeing doctors or getting medications in Thailand?

Do you need to register with the VA facility in the Philippines and fly there to see VA doctors and bring back your meds from there?

Or is there a third party clinic/office somewhere in Thailand that works with the VA for military expats?

Thanks in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the experiences of disabled US military veterans in Thailand concerning medical care, particularly regarding the VA Foreign Medical Program (FMP). Veterans are advised to register with the VA in Colorado and might have to self-pay if hospitals don't bill VA directly. There are existing FMP services in Thailand, and veterans have had varying experiences with pharmacy access and the latest changes in VA affairs, suggesting a need for timely updates on policies affecting medical services.

My husband called VA last week since the VA affairs is going through being dismantled via the current admin, and he was advised to apply for FMP as early as possible, but at this time they don't know if there will be any changes with FMP at this time.. I do know as of this past Friday some services were stopped and they were advising veterans who were already under FMP to go to Bangkok hospital or treatment, if you are in Thailand.. a lot to deal with right now so you may want to contact someone also occasionally, because some things may be changing !

Check if some hospitals in Thailand is accredited. If so, I can help getting you a consultation appointment with.

Foreign medical program in Thailand and some hospitals will bill direct depending on the service. Only service connected items are covered by FMP and it requires registration with the VA team in Colorado. They will send a letter and that is what you will provide the hospital. If they don’t bill direct you will self pay and request reimbursement. Specific rules about the paperwork used for reimbursement so check VA FMP for details.

Not sure what you are on. Just turn up at a pharmacy and see what they have first. I get all mine here.
