What should my friend do if he mistakenly received a 60-day stamp on arrival in Thailand instead of the 14-day visa exempt?

A friend arrived at Suvarnabhumi visa exempt and was (we assume) accidentally stamped in for 60 days. Visitors from his country are only permitted 14 days visa exempt. Any idea what might happen if he follows what's been stamped and stays say a total of 3 weeks?
