Where can I find the timetable for the bus from Chiang Mai to Mae Sai?

And do you need to book a ticket in advance? Or can you just get it at the bus station before the trip?

Thanks for any tips! :)

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can find the bus timetable for the route from Chiang Mai to Mae Sai on the Green Bus Thailand website. It's generally recommended to buy your ticket at the bus station on the day of your travel, but booking in advance may also be an option depending on availability.

I can second this. Booked 3 days in advance and already VIP in return bus was sold out so had to ride X fare. For the next month or two I think they are quite busy.

Also they do take credit cards. Or 7-11 cash as suggested above.

Book it online on the greenbus website and pay at 7-11 within 2 hours. Your 7-11 receipt is your ticket. I just went up and back yesterday and, as it's the weekend and high season, all the busses were fully booked the day before so I recommend you book a few days in advance if you want a VIP seat (much more comfortable).

and I don’t know for sure but I’d say no prebooking needed for most days.
