FYI I mailed my ballot to California for the upcoming Nov. 3rd election on September 24. They received it October 24........just a reminder to all you expat 'Murikan's out there that it's too late to mail. Drop off at the embassy would probably be your only option now.
Answer summary
In response to the upcoming U.S. elections, an expat shared their experience of mailing their ballot to California and suggested that it's too late to mail ballots for the November 3rd election, advising expats to consider dropping off ballots at the embassy as the best remaining option. Multiple comments highlight various voting methods available for expats, such as faxing, emailing, and online voting in states like Arizona, as well as concerns over accessibility to voting tools like fax machines.

OP
Paul Franklin you have to be registered in the county/state of your US residence where you last voted, whether you ever return or not. I also have friends who changed their US residence for tax purposes when they relocated here. I will have to ask how they registered in their 'new' US residence state.

OP
I don't really have access to a FAX, but I guess that would still be an option. I, like many expats live too far from Bangkok or Chaing Mai to drop off. Thanks for the info though. VOTE !!!

I FAXed mine to my California county. I got a confirmation from the California Secretary of State two days later saying my county elections office received it. There was a free US Government site up until recently where I could email my scanned ballot with a FAX oath but the current administration got rid of it. There are some free FAX websites and trial software that you can use. I used a free FAX site in June.
