Thanks - looks like we drive south from Chumphon and catch the car ferry to samui, then leave the car in samui, go to Tao and then return to collect it. Complicated but doable.

They do not have a car ferry from Tao to Samui ypu would have to get night boat from Tao to surat thani then car ferry from there to samui
