I was there 3 weeks ago. Got into town from Bangkok at 9 PM expecting to get some dinner and maybe a room and was shocked to find the gates closed and locked with no one there at all. Had to stay across the street at the Sri Chumphon, which is a dump with moldy bathrooms. Went to Koh Tao the next day using Lompraya, had to pay additional 500 baht for me and my daughter to get a ride to the Lompraya pier 30 km away. Used Fame tour when I came back to the mainland a week later on the nightboat as they provide a transfer from the port to Chumphon and then van to BKK and the driver of the transfer van was absolutely terrible. He had no information to help us out and nobody knew anything and we were all confused as to where he was taking us. I think next time I will just book a ticket with Lompraya in BKK and avoid Chumphon and Fame altogether. Too much hassle and it costs more $ in the long run. The one thing I did like was the nightboat though. I got a great nights rest on it and would do that again.

For 250 baht a night, you get exactly what you pay for in accommodation, and so much more in travel services and general local knowledge and friendliness. The rooms themselves are pretty barbones, and the windows are open to one of the busiest streets in town, which means that if you're a light sleeper you won't get much rest unless you invest in some earplugs. The bathrooms are very authentic Thai, with one bathroom including a bucket shower and squat potty and the other a wall mounted shower heater and more traditional toilet with bucket flushing. Truly, you get what you pay for, and you pay an extremely affordable and reasonable amount. I highly recommend this place for the budget-minded and adventure seekers looking to live in the heart of the city.

Solitary confinement has better facilities...... Though the Geckos as maintenance staff was refreshing. 😅

A basic double room suited me fine for a few nights. No more expensive than normal bunk room bed. Right in town and near food stalls.

Paid 250 Baht for a room with ventilator for one night. Overall it was ok, good location, nice people and everything was clean. BUT the room had no window so I heard the traffic and everything going on in the streets like i was sleeping on the road. I could merely sleep for two hours because of trucks and motorbikes going full power all night...

For your money, it will do for one night. Room with fan and double bed - 200 baht. There is also a room with two mattresses on the floor - 150 baht. And the third number is more decent and more expensive. Internet is normal. There is no bed linen. What is does not change. It's better to have your own underwear. The glass in the window is made like a blind, with an old mesh on the outside. It’s better to open them, otherwise it’s very stuffy. There is a shared toilet and shower on the same floor, quite cramped. There are no insects. For unassuming backpackers. Room was good value for money although I'm unsure about the bathroom having the top half of the wall removed. The birds can fly into the bathroom from outside which is a tad worrying. It also made me question privacy, I showered at night so could I be seen?. That aside its the best place to do a visa run from. The cost is 1,400 baht but that includes travel to and from the pier in Ranong and takes away all the hassle of organising it yourself. The cost of food is over priced for what it is but good rooms for an overnight stay

We took the night train from Bkk to Chumphon. We missed the ferry by a few minutes. Traveling with a toddler we needed a comfy place to be for the next 5h. The people at Fame was very welcoming and wanted to help us in every possible way. I highly recommend this place!

A room for just 200 baht a night, with ceiling fan, comfortable bed, hot shower and located in the city center. Only downside was that it was very noisy at night.

You can stay for 200 baht + 100 baht for lost keys (refunded at check-out). The bed and room were large and had a good space. (Original) 200バーツ+キーの紛失料金100バーツ(チェックアウト時に返金)で宿泊できます。 ベッドと部屋も広くて良い空間でした。

The location is perfect, it is two blocks away from most things: Saturday night market, other night markets, the two malls in the city, laundromats, restaurants, everything. The place is spacious, clean and the people are friendly. El lugar es amplio, limpio y la gente es amable.

Very cheap, convenient location and easy to book tours, but rooms need a little love, especially the bathroom!

"Great value for money and location" It's a shame there's no option for an air-conditioned room, but the fan and mosquito screen were effective in mitigating the heat and preventing us from being bitten.
