I was told 3 months before applying for extension. I applied 5 days early and was rejected. Went back the following week with another set of statements and bank letter and was approved. Every office different.
If you use an agent to get a new passport you should not be without your old one for more than a few days when you apply and when the new one arrives. Get the stamp transferred by the agent before they send it back. If you need to fly domestic without your passport you can board using Thai driving license if you have one.
thanks Todd. I dare not argue with them or risk them losing face as they are difficult enough already. Fortunately I had time to meet their request. I did point out that I could do my 90 day report 14 days early when they asked me to come back on the day and they backed down on that one.
