Participante anónimo The advantages of DTV over visa exemption? You can exit and reenter as many times as you want, no questions asked, and you get 180 days upon EACH entry, instead of 60.

Not to mention that some people do need a vista to enter Thailand, even for one day, as they country isn't on the visa exemption list.

Many people have reportedly done it many times, but that information isn't useful for you. Anybody could be questioned as soon as in their second or third try. They seem to be stricter nowadays.

officially, in the writing, yes, but in theory absolutely not. Because it's not intented for tourists in the general meaning of the word, as it legally allows you to stay long term. Also, it legally allows you to work from Thailand on a non-Thai company. With a DTV, you have zero obligation (or expectation from Immigration) to do touristic things. Also, unlike the regular visa exemption or tourist visa, you're allowed to exit and te enter freely, no questions asked, within a 5-year period. Talking from my own experience here.

On a tourist visa you aren't supposed to work, with the DTV that's what I can legally do all year round 🤷🏻 without worrying to be rejected upon entry.

I think so too, but some embassies have told, in fact, to DTV applicants that they "don't need a visa" for short term stays, even when they applied as remote workers.

They might very well argue that if you're working in Thailand only 25 days a year, the regular visa waiver entry (60+30 days) is more than enough for you.

I don't have time to learn anything, either. I'm a remote worker. Of course retirement visa is better, but as you mention, is not an option for people under 50 y/o, so for us all, the DTV is a good option as it offers three options: remote worker, learning, medical treatment.
