you are one of two people claiming that they could not open a bank account with a non immigrant visa. You have not stated any facts or provided any evidence to support this claim.
you are misinformed, all the posts have been about visa exempt, tourist or DTV holders being denied NOT holders of Non-O visas who continue as before to qualify to open bank accounts. As you claim to have been refused on a Non-O please post the branch bank opening requirements.
Here’s my branch: The visa refers to a Non Immigrant visa.
banks have stopped opening accounts for people on tourist visas. Banks will only allow 1 phone number to be registered to an account. To open an account you need a non immigrant visa, Thai phone number, certificate of residency, lease agreement / yellow book, passport, 2nd photo ID. When I opened my foreign deposit account 2 weeks ago they asked for my TIN, which I queried and eventually wasn’t needed. So yes I do have recent experience of opening an account. I have never heard of anyone being refused an account because they hold a non immigrant visa, in fact in every list of documents to open a bank account I have seen it is a requirement.
