I don’t see anything exploitative or corrupt in asking for a long stay visa, certificate of residency, a Thai phone number and a long term lease in order to open a bank account.
you recently posted that you were able to open a bank account on a Non-O. So all your bleating about not being able to open an account on a Non-O was just you whining because you didn’t do prior research on what is actually required to open an account at a particular branch.
your inability to plan ahead and request the list of documents required to open an account is only a reflection on you. Others simply gather the required documents and open accounts without drama.
