Majority will not have paid tax on a DTV. 2026 will be the year when most are due to pay if needed. Some DTVERS reported getting a TIN, posts should be in the threads.

I think they mean that the Trade and Economic office in Taipei uses the authority of the Thai Embassy in Manilla to issue Thai visas. It is not an official consulate. Manilla Embassy stamp is found on paperwork issued from there.Does not make much difference to administration as Taipei still issues DTV in a day.

Yeah it makes sense to drop the distinction. With the last evisa update, it was announced you can apply from anywhere in the world but it is not the case with residency restrictions. Maybe in time places like China will drop the residency requirement. Japan did and is not overrun with DTV applicants despite record tourist numbers.

Malaysia is the most demanding embassy for DTV approval. I got mine in Taipei, it is not really difficult, they focus very much on showing business registration, prove of income - 6 months of statements with income deposits highlighted. No seasoning required. If you are ok with paperwork it is fine. You should check the main DTV FB group, loads of posts from Taipei applicants to get tips from. Indonesia, Vietnam are very good places to apply from.

That's my take, he not aware of the application process, to leave the country like that and also if he is non resident, ineligible to apply.

I do not think so but even resident service has a poor record of service there.

His non residency is probably why he ignored for 3 months. He also left the country during the process. He should have applied in Vietnam.

Another conclusion, check the consulate you ae going to apply from. Xian is infamous for the failings outlined in the vid. Not all consulates in China are like that.
