yes including the US embassy this is a change as of about a month and a half ago.

There have been some changes lately and it is increasingly difficult to obtain without some Thai intervention.

They want a visa but you need the bank account for the visa, catch 22.

They will say get a letter from your embassy but no embassy will issue a letter for residency.

The Thai residency certificate is not enough right now.

Persistent attempts, a Thai friend and lastly an agent and eventually you will get one.

so it is 15 working days so effectively almost 3 weeks.

If you arrive on a tourist stamp and it arrives after, you can exit and return on that evisa (within 90 days of it being issued).

So in theory you can arrive visa exempt (if you qualify) 45 days plus extend for 30 days once for a total of 75 days.

Exit (by air or land)and enter on that visa for 60 days and then extend once for 30 days - total 90 days.

Added together that is 165 days.

And then you can exit and do the first step all over again....

If you qualify and have all the correct docs of course.

It would start the day of application.

Go to your local immigration and ask what you need, if you are near a substation or some offices they might not deal with it, but whatever main immigration you are near will absolutely.
