look closely at your entry stamp, it will have small print under it.

Something like non-o and a long number, your visa number.

It's the equivalent of an under consideration stamp.

If you are talking about after initial non-o visa 90 day, the money must be in the bank 60 days before application for the 1yr extension.

So if you use some of it and miscalculated you'd be out of luck on the extension.

I would leave it alone till the 1yr is approved and stamped.

IMHO

So you are a 90 day non-o visa, if you leave and return in those 90 days WITH a reentry permit you visa remains intact.

If you do a 1 yr extension of stay based on your non-o (in country) you would then purchase a multi reentry permit and you are good to come and go as you like for the duration of the extension.

However it only makes sense if you will leave 4 times or more as has been said.

NOW if you want a multi entry visa (from an embassy outside of Thailand) that requires you to leave every 90 days for the duration of the visa, you just leave and apply at the Embassy without a reentry permit which voids your current visa.

I hope that makes sense as your question is a little on the vague side.

@Paul *******
I'd delete this, you are very wrong.

If he wants a multiple re-entry permit, to leave and return, that would be stupid to do on 90 days.

He should/could get the single re-entry if he want to leave and comeback in the 90 days.

If he in fact wants a multi-entry Visa obtained at an Embassy outside of Thailand, he would them have to leave every 90 days of the duration of the visa.

2 entirely different things.

Although if the terms not used correctly can be very confusing.

if you apply for the evisa and don't get it on time:

You can enter visa exempt 30 days ( plus 30 extension if needed) and when it does come you can border bounce and enter on it then.

As long as you do it within the time allotted you can still manage about 9 months.

I don't know that the French embassy is that bad, you must make sure you have all the documents ready to go and hopefully don't miss something.

Sometimes horror stories miss relevant details that are contributing factors.

So technically your requirements are the 3 proofs:

20k baht or equivalent in foreign currency CASH

Proof of accommodation

Proof of travel out of Thailand in the period of your allowed entry.

Although very rare it does happen.

if you don't get a non-o 90 day visa before you arrive and try to do it in thailand.

The primary can convert from tourist to non-o but the dependant can't.

The dependant would have to go to a neighboring country apply and come back.

So it's beneficial to come with it first.
