The easiest and most cost effective route for a Canadian is to apply for a 90 day non-o based on retirement for one of you.

The other applies for 90day non-o based on "visiting family" also known as a dependant visa.

Once you both have visas, come to Thailand and using the income method, a required proof from the Canadian embassy and you can get 1 yr extensions.

** if financially viable to deposit 800k in baht ,into a Thai bank account is far simpler to do.

Otherwise you will have to provide embassy income verification every year.

The dependant does not require

any Financial proofs.

With this path you do not require health insurance.

OR you both obtain 90 day non-o based on retirement visas separate from each other.

Just doubles the needed financials, embassy letters etc.

We are a Canadian couple and did this exact path, we chose to deposit the 800k in Thai baht to make it the easiest.

there is no "wouldn't be able".

It is always up to the IO you are in front of.

With the proper visa you are more than likely fine.

Even with extensive history and possible notes in your file.

If you go today, as they aren't open Sundays, you can still get the 30 days extension without a fine.

If you got tomorrow you will have overstay fine of 500b per day.

if you have any questions please feel free to DM.

I am not an agent but can help you navigate the process.

If you qualify there is no need to use an agent.

You family cannot get dependant visas in country.

Thus why you must come with one.

There is a medical declaration that must include you on it, name passport info etc.

The hospital knows what to do.

You will have to present to immigration, can be done while he is hospitalized.

As high season is passing, who knows... been rumors a long time.

I wouldn't bet on it.

The easiest and smartest route is to obtain an evisa 90 day non-o visa (not oa) based on retirement.

Then you apply for the evisa 90 day non-o dependant visa for your wife and child.

When you arrive in Thailand, you use that visa and open a bank account.

Deposit 800k let it season 60 days then apply for 1 yr extensions.

Total cost about $100 US per person and pretty simple, as long as you meet the 800k financial.

The 800k only applies to you NOT dependants.

No other requirements.

THE OA, requires medical, criminal check and MANDATORY health insurance, is also an option but your dependants get non-o.

Speak to your local immigration office.

If you are married and both on Non-o based on retirement 1 yr extension, you should be able to change the reason for extension to dependant on your next extension.

If you are on an initial 90 day, they will not likely allow it.

And reports now suggest that none of the SEA embassies will issue the non-o 90 day (based on retirement) dependant .
