Hello everyone. My partner is British, he’s 73 years old. He’s entered Thailand on 15 November by Multiple tourist visa apply in Uk which will expire on 14 January. He would like to live in Thailand for 6 months.

Question!

Should he extend tourist visa on 10 January? So he can live 1 month and Then he fly to Singapore for 7 days on 14 February. He fly back to Thailand. So he can stay in Thailand 60 days?.

Or on 10 January he fly to Singapore and apply for non o visa then fly back to Thailand so he can stay 90 days?.

He booked the flight back to uk on 15 May 2026.

He got 2 strokes which is difficult for him to walk.

Many thanks.

Hi we are thinking about staying in Thailand for a year, both retired. We would leave Thailand every 5 months then come back. With all the drama over the crackdown on border runs etc, what is the best way forward? Which visa?

Edit Australian both over 60yrs.

I want to arrive in Thailand Nov.21 on multiple entry tourist visa. In 60 days I will have to exit and re-enter thailand for my visa. My question is; On my application for METV under Travel booking confirmation can I show a plane ticket to enter Thailand Nov.21 and exit Thailand to Laos with a bus ticket 59 days later? Is that acceptable?

They rejected my DTV and gave me only half a year instead of five years - out of compassion. How often do I need to renew my visa at immigration - every 30, 60, or 90 days?

When i arrive at DMK next week and get a 60 day VOA and extend another 30. Can I do a border run say to Laos by land crossing, stay a few weeks for sightseeing then return to Thailand and get another 60 days VOA and extend another 30 days.

Fly to Bali and back to Thailand and get another 60 days plus 30 or is that pushing it?

Hello everyone 😊

My boyfriend and me are thinking about living in Thailand for about 2-3 years. He got a really good job offer that could support us both financially but his employer would be in Malysia but we want to live in Thailand. So the first question is about his visa possibilities which kind of visa could apply here or if there is any visa that he meets the requirements in this situation.

Then the probably even more difficult question is that I am a student but I study completely remote and although I plan to do some internship or maybe also work later the baseline would be if I don’t find anything in this time that I have no job and would just „live“ there. I heard about the non immigrant visa and that you can do visa runs every 3 months that wouldn’t be any kind of problem because I will accompany my boyfriend to some of his work travels anyway and therefore leave the country from time to time. But then I also read stuff like that you can do this maximum to a period up to one year or it is even possible that they deny you the entry when they see that you re entry the country for the third time or something with just short interruption.

Then I also heard of the educational visa that I thought could be a solution but I also read here similar stuff like you can only prolong it up to one year or when you leave the country you first have to apply for a re-entry allowance so you can come back which also wouldn’t work because I will leave Thailand during the year for some time as mentioned above.

As you can see I am lost and my Google Research is just not answering my questions.

I appreciate any kind of information or experience. Thank you!! 🙏🏻 😊

Good morning,

I have been traveling to Thailand for over 30 years, but now I'm retiring and want to spend up to 6 months of the year in Thailand 🇹🇭 and 6 months in the UK 🇬🇧

What is the best option of visa for me please, because there are some new visas available now.

Also, my friends say use an agent it's easier.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Hello. I’m almost 59. I’d like to test retirement in Thailand. The only way is to commit to 1 year and then make a decision. Is a retirement visa the only way to live in Thailand for a year?
